November 2015
The 2015 show season brought many victories, and a whole lot of rain! Never before has the DoubleStar team seen so much stormy weather in a show season! But as they say.... the show must go on! Riders celebrated wonderful achievements on the Lower Michigan Horseman's Association show circuit at their Year-End Awards banquet. Both Makenna Krieger and Jenny Warshefski placed in the top Six for the Walk/Trot 13 and over division, while Peyton Stewart also finished in the top six for 12 and under.
This great success was repeated at the annual MSU Green and White Show, while Jenny finishing Grand Champion and Makenna right behind her in Reserve for their division.
Kelly also had her own proud moment, earning Grand Champion for the Eastern Michigan Arabian Association's Half Arabian Sport Horse In Hand division, after being undefeated all season long.
Kelly is looking forward to joining her students in the ring of LMHA for the 2016 show season after her recent purchase of a young show prospect. Kelly will be competing with "Harley", a four year old quarter horse gelding, in the junior horse division this upcoming year.

October 2014
Though the show season is mostly wrapped up, and riders are taking this time to relax and have a bit of a "recess" with their horses, there is still quite a lot going on in the DoubleStar Community. A formal congratulations is due to rider Megan Berg and Tamara "Mamma" Bashore-Berg on the purchase of their lovely Arabian Hunter Gelding, JR Cappuccino. Megan has been a long-time admirer of the Arabian breed and has finally "graduated" to owner status as we say good bye to her four-legged leased friend, and welcome a new member to the Berg and DoubleStar family. "Chino" will be making his show debut with Megan in 2015, competing in the youth Hunter Pleasure classes. Though we will miss her former mount for all her awkward cuteness and silly tricks, I'm very excited for Megan and all the new training opportunities that lay ahead of her!
The DoubleStar Equestrian Show Team was also treated with a super surprise field trip last weekend, visiting Red Cedar Farm and Jason Bluer Show Horses in Williamston, MI. This quiet, private farm is home to National Champion Driving trainer Jason Bluer and his successful miniature horses and ponies. Not only did the girls have a great opportunity to learn all about the different sizes, styles, divisions, attire, tack, rules, and training methods of the mini/pony world, but also got the chance to drive a pretty awesome roadster pony! Huge thank you to the gentlemen of Red Cedar Farm for the wonderful time! We can't wait to return in the spring and play with all the babies!
Our grand finale wrap-up for the season will be on November 9th at the MSU Pavilion where the DoubleStar Equestrian Show Team will competing at the MSUHA Green and White Show. The horses will be fuzzy, but pleased

September 2014
The show season is finally winding down. Stall curtains have been washed and put away, tack room is reorganized to fit everything for storage again, riders are starting to make their to-do list for next season. This all couldn't have come at a better time, as the temperature in Michigan has dropped significantly, warning us that winter is around the corner and she's coming in with a gusto! Lilly the Mustang is in full-on winter mode, already having grown in her thick winter coat. Every day she is looking more like a furry rabbit and less like a horse! In my recent down time, I got that chance to talk with MSU student and Horseman's Association member Natalie Wright to give her a more realistic view of what working in the horse industry is all about. I'm very excited and honored to be spotlighted in this interview. Click on the link below to read the article or check it out on our Facebook page!

August 2014
This weekend brought an end to the 2014 LMHA season with high moments from all riders. Not only did the team get to enjoy use of our new team stall drapes, the weather was beautiful in Mason, MI and was perfect for our team surprise on Saturday evening. I was nominated to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that helps spread awareness and raise money for a worthy cause. Of course I turned this into a team event and extended the challenge to all team members! Our wonderfully hot show day was brought to a close by dumping buckets of ice water on each other! In addition, a donation will be made to this cause from Double Star Equestrian. See our Facebook page for highlights from our water dumping extravaganza! The team will be taking a break from the show ring until late fall, but in the meantime there are a few surprise adventures up my sleeve!
July 2014
Each show the Double Star crew visits brings home more wins and even more fun memories! Both LMHA shows in May and June were a success for each rider. Big wins came for Peyton and Zip and Makenna and Hunter in Western Pleasure and Horsemanship, Jenny and Lilly, Megan and Rue, and Maddy and Chip in Hunt Seat Pleasure and Equitation. Most recently the EMAA show in July earned Kelly Double Championships in Sport Horse in Hand in both the Arabian and Half-Arabian divisions. We've got just a few weeks left until the last LMHA show and then our season will wind down with fuzzy and fun shows. Lesson time slots and training available all year round to prepare for next year!
